7-7-24 update: Place is still a nice facility with easy secured entry however I just got my notice of increase. Call wikipedia that now the new definition of a SLIGHT increase equates to 24%. Slight would be that of inflation, maybe even a slight bit higher but 24% is crazy, and I understand they sometimes change rates more than once per year (but haven't been here long enough to verify as this is what I was told when we signed on). I'm sure if their revenue went DOWN by 24% they wouldn't consider that a SLIGHT increase. Might have to consider new options. I understand increases and agree they are necessary but anything over 10% is ridiculous. It's not like I got any other perks for the additional increase. Changing my 5 star down to 3 stars for the excessive increase. Too bad as we like this place and the location. Original: We had a great experience at Compass Self Storage. Vanessa was very helpful. She showed us to a storage unit type that we were interested in and gave us several options for similar sizes. We opted for a drive up climate controlled unit. We were able to set up everything very quickly including auto pay options. The unit looked clean and the area appears to be very safe. The access hours for the storage units are very good opening at 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Very fair prices too.

Do not store your stuff at this facility! I'm currently working on moving my stuff out due to a severe lack of security. Hopefully this review will public shame these people into getting their cameras fixed. My next door neighbor had their storage space broken into and had to file a claim in December 2023. She was mortified when Compass told her that NONE of the cameras worked except for the main front camera watching the entrance gate. Compass assured her that they would rectify the issue and make sure to get their camera system working ASAP. Well, here we are five months later in May 2024 and now my vehicle got hit in the parking lot. It is directly in front of a camera. Guess what Compass just told me? Their cameras don't work. I'm furious!! DO NOT keep your stuff at this facility!! The district manager George is supposed to call me, but I'm not holding my breath.

Met the manager, Dom, and he was a real stand-up guy. First off, Dom knew his stuff. Gave me the rundown on their units – sizes, prices, security – all without making it sound like a sales pitch. You can tell he's not just there to make a buck; he's there to help. The place was clean, well-kept, and felt secure, which is more than I can say for some other spots I've checked out. What really got me was how down-to-earth the manager was. We chatted about fishing, local sports. Made the whole thing feel more like I was dealing with a buddy than a business manager. So yeah, I'd recommend Compass Self Storage in Tavares, especially if all their staff is as solid as Dom. Good prices, great service, and no B.S.
